Its durable construction makes it a practical choice for high-traffic areas, while the natural fibres offer a sustainable and long-lasting flooring solution.

As part of our Essential collection, the Elba rug represents a thoughtful balance of simple design and reliable craftsmanship. The natural variations in the jute fibres give each piece a unique character, making it a versatile choice that complements a variety of interior styles.

Produced in India, this rug reflects a rich tradition of textile artistry. By choosing this piece, you are supporting skilled craftsmanship that prioritises quality and longevity, ensuring your home remains a welcoming space for years to come.

Design

The design of the Elba rug features a classic striped pattern that feels both timeless and fresh. The soft purple tones are balanced by the warm, neutral beige of the natural jute, creating a harmonious look that adds a gentle pop of colour to your space.

The edges are finished with a charming scalloped detail that adds a playful and organic silhouette to the piece. This subtle design choice softens the overall look, making it a perfect fit for a relaxed and inviting home environment.

The Elba rug is carefully hand woven by skilled artisans in India. This traditional technique involves a steady, rhythmic process where the jute fibres are interlaced by hand to create a robust and beautiful finished product.

Creating a rug of this quality requires significant time and focus from the weaver. The process ensures that every stripe is perfectly aligned and the structure of the weave remains consistent, resulting in a durable piece that stands up to daily use.

The human effort behind this rug is evident in its texture and finish. By choosing a hand woven piece, you are bringing a unique, human touch into your home that simply cannot be replicated by automated machines.

100% Jute

Jute is a natural material that consists of a long, soft and shiny plant fibre that can be spun into coarse and strong threads. Jute rugs are known for their natural texture, which makes them durable and highly resistant to wear and tear. They also have a higher sound insulation effect than for example synthetic rugs. Jute rugs are a sustainable option since they can be recycled and are biodegradable. The material is sensitive to moisture, therefore jute rugs should only be used indoors or outdoors under a roof.

Maintenance

To prevent shading and uneven wear, frequently rotate your rug.
Use a conventional hoover instead of a robotic cleaner to prevent any damage to the rug.
If you discover a loose thread on your rug, use scissors to gently cut it off. Avoid pulling the thread to prevent damage.
To maintain the quality of your rug, avoid leaving it damp for a long time without ensuring that it dries completely. This will help protect both the rug and the surface beneath.
Shake the rug outdoors to remove any excess dirt or debris.

Installation

For added safety, stability and floor protection, we recommend using an anti-slip pad underneath the rug (sold separately).
Fold marks may occur during transport. This is not a manufacturing defect and is easy to remedy. Simply turn your rug over, roll it tightly, and leave it for a few hours. Finally, lay out your rug and wait a few days until your rug lays flat against the floor.
As you unpack your new rug, you may notice a slight smell, which is due to the rug being tightly packed during transport. This is normal and will go away after a few days.
Make sure your floor is completely dry before placing the rug.
The rug can bleach or change colour if exposed to direct sunlight; therefore, it is important to avoid placing the rugs in direct sunlight.
Please be aware that trapped dirt, dust, or dampness under a rug may cause marks or scratches on sensitive floors.

Address spills promptly to minimize staining. Blot the affected area gently with a damp, undyed cloth—never rub, as this may embed the stain further into the fibers. Protect the floor beneath the rug by ensuring it's properly covered during the cleaning process.
For hard-to-remove stains, we recommend you contact a professional rug cleaner.
