Originating from the skilled weaving traditions of Afghanistan, this rug carries a rich heritage of craftsmanship. Its enduring quality and aesthetic appeal ensure it remains a cherished feature in your home for years to come, maturing gracefully with age and bringing a sense of history to your interior.

The Ziegler Ariana rug is a modern interpretation of the legendary 19th-century designs originally commissioned by the Swiss firm Ziegler & Co. These rugs were created to bridge the gap between traditional Middle Eastern weaving and the more restrained, sophisticated tastes of Western markets, focusing on elegant, large-scale floral patterns.

What defines the Ariana style is its deliberate, aged aesthetic. Artisans use specific techniques to soften the colours and provide a gentle, lived-in patina, making these rugs feel as though they have graced a home for generations. The result is a perfect balance of antique charm and contemporary interior appeal.

Visually, these rugs are known for their spacious, open fields filled with graceful vine scrolls, palmettes, and floral blossoms. The borders are typically bold and formal, mirroring the complexity of the central field to create a harmonious sense of balance that is highly prized by collectors and interior designers alike.

Valued for their versatility, these rugs are more than just floor coverings; they are symbols of a cross-cultural design dialogue. Owning an Ariana piece connects you to a long tradition of artistic exchange, representing a legacy of skill that continues to define the landscape of fine, hand-knotted rugs.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to bring the design to life. Each individual knot is placed by hand, a labour-intensive process that ensures the pattern remains sharp, detailed, and incredibly durable over time.

The construction quality is evident in the substantial weight of 25.2 kg. This density of material not only provides a luxurious, heavy drape but also guarantees that the rug maintains its structure and resilience, standing up to the demands of everyday use while retaining its refined appearance.

The combination of premium wool and a sturdy foundation demonstrates a commitment to traditional techniques. By choosing such a high-quality, handcrafted piece, you are supporting a legacy of craft that values precision and human touch above mass production, resulting in a floor covering that is built to last.
