TabrizHand KnottedRug

Orange / Brown102 x 114 cm

The city of Tabriz, located in the northwest of the Middle East, has been a renowned centre of rug weaving for centuries. Historically situated along major trade routes, it became a melting pot of artistic influences, resulting in some of the most sophisticated designs in the weaving world.

Weavers from this region are celebrated for their exceptional skill and precision. The local weaving tradition is characterised by a highly structured approach to design, where patterns are carefully planned to achieve remarkable balance and clarity across the entire surface.

This particular piece features a delicate floral pattern surrounded by a formal decorative border. The soft beige and green tones offer a gentle interpretation of classic motifs, creating a harmonious look that feels both traditional and fresh.

Tabriz rugs are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their enduring style and cultural significance. Acquiring a piece from this historic weaving tradition brings a sense of heritage and quiet sophistication to contemporary homes.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a traditional technique that requires immense patience and skill. Every single knot is tied individually by hand, creating a strong, durable structure that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

With a weight of 4.8 kg for its compact size, this piece represents a substantial investment of material and labour. The density of the weave ensures that the intricate floral details remain sharp and defined, while the overall construction feels solid and grounded.

The weaving process is a slow, deliberate art form where the artisan translates complex patterns into a tactile reality. This dedicated human effort results in a robust rug that is built to be used and appreciated for many years.
