Drawing from the deep-rooted textile traditions of the Middle East, this rug features a sophisticated design that balances intricate detail with a harmonious colour palette. The careful attention to detail in its composition ensures that it remains both a functional floor covering and a striking visual focal point.

Investing in this piece means choosing a rug that combines heritage with lasting quality. Its dense construction and premium materials ensure it will maintain its beauty and integrity for years to come, serving as a cherished part of your home for a long time.

Senneh rugs originate from the Sanandaj region in the Middle East, a city with a storied history of weaving that dates back centuries. These rugs are highly regarded for their ability to translate complex, refined designs into textile form, often drawing inspiration from the intricate patterns found in local tile work and manuscript illuminations.

The term Senneh refers not only to the region but also to a specific type of asymmetrical knotting technique that is synonymous with the area. This method allows for a very fine, tight weave that supports the delicate and often curvilinear designs for which these rugs are celebrated. Understanding this technique helps one appreciate the precision required to produce such fine work.

Visually, Senneh rugs are defined by their elegant use of space and repeating motifs. While they often feature central medallions, it is the smaller, repeating patterns—such as the herati or boteh—that truly showcase the weaver's skill. The borders are typically formal and balanced, framing the field in a way that creates a sense of order and serenity.

Collectors value these rugs for their historical significance and the immense skill required to produce them. Owning a piece from this tradition is an act of preserving a cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations. It represents a commitment to quality and a deep appreciation for the human element in artistic production.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense skill and dedication. By individually tying each knot, the artisans create a surface that is both durable and remarkably detailed, ensuring the pattern remains sharp and resilient over time.

The construction of this piece is a testament to the time and human effort invested in its creation. With a weight of 8 kg for its size, this rug features a dense, high-quality foundation that provides both weight and stability. This density is the mark of a well-made, premium rug designed to withstand the rigours of daily life while retaining its elegant structure.
