Sahara Jute - The Calm Beneath Your Feet

Bring a warm, tactile feel to your room with this hand woven jute rug, designed to ground your home in natural comfort.
Ground your living space with a rug that offers a wonderfully tactile surface, adding organic warmth and a calm atmosphere to daily life.
Crafted from natural jute, this piece brings a grounded, earthy quality to your floors while remaining durable for everyday use.
Enjoy the added convenience of underfloor heating compatibility, allowing warmth to flow evenly through your rooms on cooler days.
Sourced from skilled artisans in India, this rug reflects traditional craft techniques passed down through generations.

Design

The surface displays a subtle textural variation created by the natural weave, featuring horizontal bands of tonal depth that catch the light gently. Neat woven fringes complete each end, adding a traditional finishing touch to the composition.
Rendered in a natural brown colour palette, this design suits rustic interiors where earthy tones and organic textures help create a cosy and inviting atmosphere.
This rug is entirely hand woven by skilled artisans who carefully interlace the natural fibres on traditional handlooms.
A piece of this scale takes several weeks of dedicated human effort to complete, resulting in a sturdy construction and rich textural depth that machine-made alternatives cannot replicate.

95% Jute

Jute is a natural material that consists of a long, soft and shiny plant fibre that can be spun into coarse and strong threads. Jute rugs are known for their natural texture, which makes them durable and highly resistant to wear and tear. They also have a higher sound insulation effect than for example synthetic rugs. Jute rugs are a sustainable option since they can be recycled and are biodegradable. The material is sensitive to moisture, therefore jute rugs should only be used indoors or outdoors under a roof.

5% Viscose

Viscose is a synthetic fibre made from cellulose, which is a natural material found in plants. The material is often used to give a shine to rugs and to highlight details in a way that is found in silk rugs. Viscose rugs have a soft and beautiful shine that gives a luxurious feeling. The material is sensitive to liquids, which means that moisture can cause stains, shrink or make the fibres yellow. Therefore it is best if you avoid placing place your viscose rug in areas prone to humidity or risk of spills.

Care & Fair

We are proud to be part of the organization CARE & FAIR. Their mission is to improve the living conditions of carpet weavers in India and their families through education and health

Care & Fair

Maintenance

  • To prevent shading and uneven wear, frequently rotate your rug.
  • Use a conventional hoover instead of a robotic cleaner to prevent any damage to the rug.
  • If you discover a loose thread on your rug, use scissors to gently cut it off. Avoid pulling the thread to prevent damage.
  • Avoid hoovering directly over the fringes, as the suction and brushes can catch the threads and cause damage.
  • Shake the rug outdoors to remove any excess dirt or debris.

Installation

  • For added safety, stability and floor protection, we recommend using an anti-slip pad underneath the rug (sold separately).
  • Fold marks may occur during transport. This is not a manufacturing defect and is easy to remedy. Simply turn your rug over, roll it tightly, and leave it for a few hours. Finally, lay out your rug and wait a few days until your rug lays flat against the floor.
  • As you unpack your new rug, you may notice a slight smell, which is due to the rug being tightly packed during transport. This is normal and will go away after a few days.
  • Make sure your floor is completely dry before placing the rug.
  • The rug can bleach or change colour if exposed to direct sunlight; therefore, it is important to avoid placing the rugs in direct sunlight.
  • The rugs are sensitive to moisture, therefore they should only be used indoors or outdoors under a roof.
  • Please be aware that trapped dirt, dust, or dampness under a rug may cause marks or scratches on sensitive floors.

Care instructions

Do this
  • Address spills promptly to minimize staining. Blot the affected area gently with a damp, undyed cloth—never rub, as this may embed the stain further into the fibers. Protect the floor beneath the rug by ensuring it's properly covered during the cleaning process.
  • For hard-to-remove stains, we recommend you contact a professional rug cleaner.
Avoid this
  • Do not wash
  • Do not bleach.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Do not iron.
  • Do not dry clean.
