PatchworkHand KnottedRug

Orange / BeigeRoundØ 197 cm

The art of the patchwork rug is a modern evolution of long-standing textile traditions found across the Middle East. By taking fragments of older, hand-knotted rugs and repurposing them, artisans honour the history of the original pieces while creating something entirely new and relevant for contemporary homes.

This practice relies on the deep knowledge of traditional knotting techniques. Each fragment used in the patchwork is selected for its quality and pattern, often coming from rugs that have been carefully salvaged. This approach ensures that the depth and character of the original craftsmanship are preserved, giving the rug a sense of provenance that mass-produced items cannot match.

The design language of this piece draws on classic Middle Eastern motifs, featuring intricate floral and organic patterns that have been softened by time. The subtle, neutral colour palette highlights these elegant details, allowing the beauty of the traditional weaves to shine through in a way that feels fresh and understated.

Collecting a patchwork rug is an investment in both heritage and sustainability. It represents a bridge between the past and the present, offering you the chance to own a piece that celebrates the beauty of hand-knotted textiles. Each rug serves as a reminder of the enduring skill and cultural legacy that defines this rich tradition.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who assemble each individual panel to create a cohesive whole. This traditional method requires significant patience and precision, as each section must be perfectly aligned to maintain the structural integrity and aesthetic balance of the final circular shape.

With a weight of 13.6 kg spread across its 197 cm diameter, this rug demonstrates a dense and high-quality construction that speaks to the extensive labour involved. This weight signifies a generous use of quality materials, ensuring a sturdy, long-lasting product that retains its form and beauty over time.

The complexity of hand-assembling these panels means that this rug represents weeks of dedicated work. The result is a durable, well-crafted piece that stands as a testament to the artisan's skill and the time-honoured tradition of creating long-lasting floor coverings.
