PatchworkHand KnottedRug

Dark grey / Dark blue225 x 272 cm

Patchwork rugs represent a creative evolution in Middle Eastern rug-making, where the tradition of honouring older, hand-woven pieces is kept alive through innovative reassembly. By taking existing rugs—often those with beautiful but damaged sections—artisans carefully select the best parts to create something entirely new and modern.

The process relies on a deep understanding of textile durability and colour theory. Artisans must evaluate the condition of the Wool to ensure that every patch contributes to a stable foundation. This requires an expert eye for how different textures and shades will interact, resulting in a cohesive design that feels intentional rather than accidental.

The design language here is defined by the contrast between the organic, worn-in look of the original fabric and the sharp, geometric lines of the modern assembly. This juxtaposition creates a sophisticated aesthetic that bridges the gap between classic artistry and current interior trends, making these rugs highly sought after by those who appreciate design with a past.

Valued for their uniqueness, these rugs carry the weight of multiple stories. Each fragment of the rug may have been part of a larger, traditional piece, now given a second life in your home. Collecting a patchwork rug is an act of preserving craft history whilst embracing a forward-thinking, sustainable approach to interior design.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and precision from skilled artisans. By assembling individual segments into a cohesive patchwork, the makers transform diverse elements into a unified, durable floor covering that reflects deep technical expertise.

Weighing 15.9 kg, this rug demonstrates a substantial density of material that speaks to its quality and structural integrity. The weight is a direct result of the generous use of premium Wool, ensuring that the final piece is not only visually impressive but also robust enough to handle the wear and tear of a busy household.

The careful construction process ensures that every stitch and knot contributes to the long-term resilience of the rug. This level of craftsmanship is what elevates a simple floor covering into a lasting investment, offering a level of durability that mass-produced alternatives simply cannot replicate.
