Dark green / Dark yellow199 x 200 cm

Bokhara rugs take their name from the ancient Silk Road city of Bukhara in Central Asia, a historic hub for trade and textile artistry. While the design roots are deeply embedded in these nomadic traditions, the finest examples of the style today are masterfully woven in Pakistan.

The term 2ply refers to the construction of the pile, where two strands of Wool are twisted together before being knotted. This technical choice is significant because it results in a more lustrous, thicker, and longer-lasting pile compared to single-ply alternatives, ensuring the rug feels substantial and resilient.

Visually, these rugs are defined by their repeating gul motifs, which are stylised, octagonal medallions arranged in rows across the field. Enclosed by multiple formal, geometric borders, this layout creates a balanced and harmonious aesthetic that is highly sought after for its symmetry and elegance.

Collectors value these pieces not only for their visual appeal but for the immense skill required to produce them. Owning a Pakistan Bokhara 2ply rug means acquiring a piece of cultural heritage that honours centuries of weaving knowledge and human dedication.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans. The process involves tying each individual knot by hand, a labour-intensive method that requires immense focus and expertise to ensure the pattern is perfectly executed across the entire surface.

With a density of 360,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 200 x 199 cm rug represents hundreds of hours of dedicated work. This high knot count is the primary indicator of its superior quality, resulting in a firm, long-lasting pile that is both dense and luxurious to the touch.

The 10 kg weight of the piece further underscores the substantial amount of high-quality Wool used in its construction. This combination of density and material weight ensures that the rug is built to endure, offering a sturdy and reliable foundation for any room in your home.
