NajafabadHand KnottedRug

Brown / Black290 x 408 cm

The Najafabad rug tradition originates from the city of the same name, located in the central region of the Middle East. This area has long been celebrated for its commitment to maintaining classic weaving standards, drawing influence from the broader aesthetic heritage of the region while developing its own distinctive style.

Najafabad rugs are particularly recognised for their structural integrity and the clarity of their motifs. The weaving process in this region emphasises a balanced approach to density and pattern, ensuring that the finished product is both beautiful and practical for the home.

The signature design of a Najafabad rug typically features a central medallion accompanied by an intricate floral field, often encased in a wide, detailed border. The interplay between the dark, moody fields and the lighter, intricate botanical details is a hallmark of this tradition, reflecting the region's mastery of colour and composition.

Collectors value these rugs for their consistency in quality and their ability to anchor a room with a sense of heritage. Owning a Najafabad piece connects you to a lineage of skilled weavers whose dedication to their craft has preserved these elaborate designs for generations, making it a meaningful addition to any collection.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to bring its intricate design to life. The process is a testament to traditional craft, requiring precise placement of every individual knot to ensure the pattern remains sharp and the pile stays uniform across the entire surface.

With a substantial weight of 41.4 kg, the construction of this piece is exceptionally robust. This density is the result of thousands of hours of manual labour, ensuring that the rug is not only visually striking but also durable enough to withstand daily use while maintaining its structural integrity.

The commitment to quality is evident in every aspect of its creation, from the careful selection of materials to the rhythmic, expert hand-tying process. This level of dedication creates a heavy, grounded rug that signifies the high degree of skill invested in its production.
