Najafabad rugs originate from the city of Najafabad, located in the central region of the Middle East. This city has a long-standing reputation for producing rugs that are both robust and aesthetically sophisticated, often drawing inspiration from the classical design traditions of nearby Isfahan.

The quality of a rug from this region is defined by its construction. These rugs are known for a sturdy foundation that supports a dense, resilient pile. This build is not just about longevity, but about providing a consistent and lush texture that retains its character even in high-traffic areas of the home.

The signature design of a Najafabad rug often revolves around a central medallion, which is typically surrounded by a dense field of 'Shah Abbasi' floral motifs. These patterns, characterised by their rhythmic curves and balanced layouts, are enclosed by wide, ornate borders that frame the composition with elegance and precision.

Owning a Najafabad rug is a way to connect with a storied tradition of craftsmanship. These pieces are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their ability to blend formal artistic complexity with the practical needs of modern life, making them a lasting addition to any interior.

This rug is crafted using traditional hand-knotted techniques, a process that requires immense patience and skill. Each knot is placed by hand by a dedicated artisan, ensuring that the pattern remains sharp and the structure stays resilient over many years of use.

The density and quality of this piece are reflected in its substantial 39.6 kg weight. This significant material investment is what gives the rug its luxurious feel and long-lasting durability, proving that high-quality construction is at the heart of every detail.

By choosing a hand-knotted rug, you are supporting a craft tradition that values precision and human effort. The time required to complete such a large, detailed piece is considerable, resulting in a floor covering that is not only a functional item but a long-term investment in quality.
