Mehraban rugs originate from a village in the Hamadan region of the Middle East, an area long celebrated for its deep-rooted weaving traditions. These rugs are known for their sturdy construction and the use of bold, expressive motifs that often draw inspiration from local folklore and the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The technical quality of these rugs is defined by their robust foundation, which typically utilises cotton to ensure the rug remains flat and durable over time. The Wool used for the pile is often sourced from local sheep, resulting in a resilient and soft texture that is highly valued for its ability to withstand daily wear while maintaining a deep, saturated colour profile.

Visually, these pieces are recognised for their striking use of red backgrounds and central medallions, often surrounded by intricate floral vine work. The borders are frequently decorated with geometric or stylised botanical patterns that frame the composition beautifully. This particular runner showcases the characteristic balance and harmony that have made Mehraban designs sought after by collectors for generations.

Owning a Mehraban rug is an invitation to connect with a long-standing cultural heritage. These rugs are more than just functional items; they are expressions of the weaver's skill and the regional aesthetics passed down through families. By choosing this piece, you are supporting a tradition of craft that prizes lasting quality and timeless design above fleeting trends.

This runner is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense focus and patience. Each individual knot is tied by hand to ensure the structure is firm and the pile is dense. This technique is essential for achieving the level of detail seen in the intricate floral motifs, and it creates a rug that is built to withstand years of use.

With a total area of approximately 2.28 m2 and a weight of 11.4 kg, this piece demonstrates a high material density that speaks to its premium construction. The weight is a direct result of the generous amount of Wool used, which contributes to its durability and luxurious feel. This investment of materials and labour ensures that the rug remains stable on your floor, providing a reliable and lasting foundation for your home.
