Mehraban rugs originate from a region in the Middle East known for its long-standing tradition of weaving. These rugs have evolved over generations, drawing on local influences and techniques that have been passed down through families of master weavers.

The technical quality of a Mehraban rug is found in its construction. The use of hand-knotted techniques ensures a level of durability and pile density that is difficult to achieve through other methods, allowing the Wool to maintain its lustre and texture over decades of use.

Design-wise, these rugs are defined by their artistic floral patterns and balanced layouts. While they share common characteristics with other regional styles, the Mehraban is distinct for its specific interpretation of traditional motifs, often incorporating unique colour combinations that reflect the local landscape and cultural heritage.

Owning a Mehraban rug is more than just a decor choice; it is an appreciation of a craft that has survived the test of time. These pieces are highly valued by collectors for their cultural significance and the genuine human skill reflected in every knot, serving as a connection to a centuries-old tradition.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a traditional craft that requires immense skill and patience. By knotting each strand of Wool individually onto a cotton foundation, the artisans create a surface that is both incredibly dense and highly resilient to wear.

With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, this runner represents a significant investment of time and human effort. This precise knotting allows for the intricate, sharp detailing seen in the floral patterns, ensuring that the design remains crisp and clear while providing the structural integrity needed for high-traffic areas.

The substantial weight of 13.5 kg is a direct result of the high-quality materials and tight, hand-knotted construction. This weight ensures the rug stays firmly in place, demonstrating the superior quality and labour-intensive process that goes into creating such a lasting piece of functional art.
