Mashad rugs hail from the city of Mashad, a major cultural and religious centre in the Middle East. Located in the northeastern part of the region, Mashad has long been a hub for the production of high-quality textiles, benefiting from a historical position along trade routes that allowed for the exchange of artistic influences and fine materials.

These rugs are often characterised by a specific construction style that prioritises durability alongside aesthetic beauty. The use of premium Wool allows for a dense, lustrous pile that reflects light beautifully, enhancing the intricate patterns that are synonymous with this regional tradition.

Visually, Mashad rugs are known for their sophisticated use of floral motifs and central medallions, often set against a rich, saturated field. The borders are typically complex and harmonious, framing the central design with a level of balance and symmetry that has defined the aesthetic of this region for generations.

Collecting a Mashad rug is an investment in a storied tradition. These pieces are highly valued by connoisseurs for their ability to blend intricate design with lasting quality. By bringing one into your home, you are not just acquiring a floor covering but a piece of history that embodies the skill and dedication of generations of artisans.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience from the artisan. By carefully tying each individual knot by hand, the maker ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that is simply impossible to achieve through machine manufacturing.

Given the significant dimensions of 340 x 248 cm and the substantial weight of 35.4 kg, this rug represents a massive investment of human effort. The density of the materials and the complexity of the hand-knotted construction ensure a durable, long-lasting product that stands as a testament to traditional craft techniques.
