Mashad rugs originate from the holy city of Mashad, located in the northeastern part of the Middle East. This region has a long-standing reputation as a centre for high-quality weaving, drawing on centuries of cultural exchange and artistic development along historic trade routes.

The term Mashad signifies not just a geographic origin but a specific standard of quality. These rugs are known for their robust construction and the use of high-quality Wool, which is essential for achieving the soft yet durable pile that collectors and homeowners have admired for generations.

Design-wise, Mashad rugs are celebrated for their elaborate floral patterns, often centred around a large, ornate medallion. The borders are typically complex, framing the central field with repeating motifs that showcase the technical mastery of the regional weaving style.

Collecting a Mashad rug is an investment in a living heritage. These pieces are valued for their ability to balance grand, traditional aesthetics with the practical durability required for modern living, making them a centrepiece in any home that values craftsmanship and history.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and skill from the artisan. With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 4-metre runner represents hundreds of hours of focused, manual effort to ensure the pattern is crisp and the pile is exceptionally durable.

The weight of 14.8 kg is a testament to the quality and density of the materials used in its construction. This substantial weight ensures the runner lies flat and secure, reflecting a level of craftsmanship that is designed to withstand the test of time while maintaining its structural integrity.

By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are supporting a tradition of manual excellence. The precision involved in placing every individual knot results in a finished product with superior pile density and pattern definition that simply cannot be achieved by mechanical means.
