One-of-a-kind
LoribaftHand KnottedWool rug
Dark red / Brown170 x 228 cm

Loribaft - A Warm Embrace for Your Living Space

Discover the charm of this one-of-a-kind Loribaft rug, featuring a rich red field and intricate, hand-knotted details that bring authentic character to any room.
Experience the exceptional comfort of this hand-knotted Loribaft, a piece that brings both warmth and a tactile, inviting quality to your home. Its thick pile provides a soft, cushioning feel underfoot, making it a perfect choice for areas where you want to add a sense of cosiness and comfort.
This rug is a true one-of-a-kind creation, meaning it is entirely unique. Because no two rugs are exactly alike, owning this piece allows you to introduce a genuine work of art into your space that will never be replicated. It is a singular expression of style that anchors a room with its presence.
The deep red tones of the field create a striking backdrop for the intricate, colourful borders filled with traditional motifs. This vibrant colour palette is balanced by a natural, earthy feel, ensuring the rug feels grounded and authentic in a variety of interior settings.
Beyond its visual appeal, the high-quality construction ensures this rug will remain a long-lasting addition to your home. Its dense pile is not only comfortable but also durable, designed to withstand daily life while maintaining its appearance and soft texture for years to come.
Loribaft rugs originate from the tribal traditions of the Middle East, specifically associated with the nomadic groups who have refined their weaving techniques over centuries. These rugs are deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the region, reflecting a way of life that values both functionality and beauty in every thread.
The term 'Baft' refers to the weaving process itself, often implying a thicker, more plush pile than other regional styles. This construction choice is deliberate, providing extra insulation and a soft, luxurious feel that has become a hallmark of the tradition. It is a technique designed for comfort and longevity.
Visually, these rugs are known for their bold fields and intricate, often playful borders. While the main field is frequently kept simple to highlight the quality of the wool, the borders are typically filled with symbolic motifs including animals, plants, and geometric patterns that tell stories of the environment and the weaver's inspirations.
Collecting a rug from this tradition is an investment in human skill and cultural history. These pieces are valued for their authenticity and the way they bridge the gap between ancient nomadic art and contemporary living. Owning one means holding a piece of history that continues to be relevant and admired for its enduring quality.
This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires patience and a high level of precision. With approximately 620,000 individual knots placed by hand, this rug represents months of dedicated effort, resulting in a dense and resilient structure.
The weight of 15.5 kg across its 3.88 m2 surface area speaks to the generous amount of material used in its creation. This density is a testament to the quality of the construction, ensuring that the rug maintains its shape and structural integrity even with regular use.
The time and skill invested in creating such a piece are reflected in the sharpness of the patterns and the overall feel of the pile. By choosing a hand-knotted rug, you are supporting a tradition of craft that values quality and durability above all else, resulting in a floor covering that is built to stand the test of time.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
