Lillian rugs originate from a small region in the Middle East, known for a specific style of weaving that has been passed down through generations. These rugs are highly regarded for their robust construction and their ability to blend traditional artistry with a distinct, often rustic aesthetic that feels both authentic and sophisticated.

The term Lillian refers to the specific provenance of these pieces, which are often characterised by their sturdy foundation and the use of high-quality wool. This construction method ensures that the rugs are not only beautiful but also exceptionally durable, often maturing in character as they age within a home.

Visually, these runners are defined by their bold, geometric interpretations of floral and medallion motifs. Unlike more formal styles, the Lillian aesthetic often leans into a slightly more spontaneous arrangement of patterns, with deep reds and blues serving as the traditional base colours that make the designs pop.

Collectors value these rugs for their honesty and the visible hand of the maker. Owning a Lillian is a way to preserve a piece of regional history, as these rugs represent a unique intersection of nomadic influence and settled village craft that continues to inspire interior design today.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense focus and dedication. Using a foundation of cotton to ensure structural integrity, the wool pile is tied knot by knot, creating a dense surface that is built to withstand years of foot traffic.

With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, this runner represents a significant investment of time and human skill. This high knot count allows for the precise, fluid lines of the floral patterns and contributes to the overall weight of 9.6 kg, which keeps the runner stable and flat on your floor.

The combination of the substantial wool pile and the robust foundation reflects a commitment to quality that is evident from the moment you step onto it. Every inch of this runner is a testament to the artisan's ability to translate traditional designs into a durable, tangible object for your home.
