Transform your living space with this genuine 100% wool Kunduz rug, carefully hand-knotted in Afghanistan.

Featuring a distinctive red field adorned with traditional motifs, this piece introduces natural warmth and grounded comfort to your floors.

The 7 mm low pile provides a pleasant underfoot feel while maintaining a sleek, manageable profile that fits effortlessly beneath furniture.

Its solid wool construction naturally helps absorb sound, creating a calmer and more inviting atmosphere in your home.

With a density of 90,000 knots per m2, this rug delivers fine pattern clarity and a sturdy surface built to handle everyday living.

A higher knot count means denser fibre placement, which directly translates to a more resilient pile that holds its shape and appearance over years of daily use.

Because each of these rugs is entirely unique, no two pieces share the exact same details.

This specific rug exists nowhere else in the world, making it a truly personal addition to your interior that cannot be replicated.

Kunduz rugs originate from the northern Afghan city of Kunduz, an important trading hub situated near the ancient Silk Road.

Weavers in this region draw upon deep-rooted Central Asian design traditions, blending influences from neighbouring tribal groups to create distinct, recognisable floor coverings.

The construction features a 2ply yarn structure, meaning the pile is spun using two distinct strands twisted tightly together.

This technique produces a stronger, more resilient pile that stands up well to foot traffic while retaining a subtle, natural lustre.

The visual language of Kunduz rugs typically revolves around geometric medallions and repeating octagonal guls, framed by structured borders.

These motifs have been passed down for centuries, carrying symbolic meanings connected to protection, family heritage, and local tribal identity.

Collecting rugs from this region allows you to bring a piece of living cultural history directly into your home.

Owning a hand-knotted Kunduz piece means valuing the preservation of ancient craft traditions and the enduring skill of individual weavers.

This rug is entirely handmade using traditional hand-knotted techniques passed down through generations of skilled artisans in Afghanistan.

Bringing a piece like this to life requires immense human patience, steady hands, and deep technical expertise.

With a knot density of 90,000 knots per m2 across a total size of 151 x 103 cm, artisans hand-tie approximately 140,000 individual knots.

This intricate process demands months of dedicated labour to complete, ensuring the pattern remains sharp and structurally sound.

The substantial weight of 4.7 kg reflects the generous amount of natural wool and dense construction invested in its creation.

Every single knot is secured tightly by hand, resulting in a robust foundation and a durable pile that speaks to the true quality of traditional craftsmanship.
