Kelim Patchwork - A Warm Path for Your Hallway

This truly one-of-a-kind runner brings together fragments of vintage Middle Eastern flatweaves, creating a colorful and tactile focal point for your home.

Stepping onto this 304 x 82 cm runner brings a wonderful sense of warmth and character to your hallway or living space. Composed of carefully stitched fragments, it offers a varied, tactile surface that feels rich underfoot and helps absorb sound in busy rooms.

Crafted from 100% wool, the natural fibers provide a soft yet resilient pile that naturally regulates indoor comfort while standing up to everyday walking.

Because it is a genuine one-of-a-kind piece, no two rugs share this exact combination of patterns and tones. The specific fragments chosen for this runner mean that this exact composition exists nowhere else and will never be made again.

Originating from the Middle East, this rug carries a rich craft provenance that connects traditional weaving heritage directly to your modern interior.

Patchwork rugs take inspiration from the rich nomadic and village weaving traditions of the Middle East, where textiles were traditionally crafted from locally sourced materials and used to decorate and insulate homes. Artisans have long practiced the tradition of repurposing well-loved carpets, salvaging surviving sections of older flatweaves and carpets to give them a new lease on life.

The construction relies on flatweaving techniques, where colored weft threads are tightly passed through warp threads to create pattern without a raised pile. This flat structure makes the runner durable, slim at 8 mm thick, and well-suited for high-traffic areas where doors need to swing freely overhead.

The visual language of this rug is a collage of geometric motifs, stripes, and tribal symbols drawn from various regional traditions. Each patch tells its own story through traditional dyes and regional weaving styles, combining rustic checkers, diamond motifs, and organic shapes into a cohesive visual narrative.

Collecting patchwork pieces allows homeowners to own a diverse cross-section of regional craft history within a single item. It represents a sustainable approach to textile heritage, preserving traditional handcraft skills while adapting them for contemporary living spaces.

This runner is meticulously hand-woven by skilled artisans who select and join vintage flatwoven fragments into a cohesive new whole. Each segment is carefully arranged and stitched by hand to ensure structural integrity across the entire length of the rug.

Weighing 5 kg across its 304 x 82 cm dimensions, this piece demonstrates a dense and substantial construction that relies on a significant investment of human labor and traditional textile knowledge.

The patient hand-weaving process requires weeks of expert handiwork, resulting in a durable and thoughtfully assembled floor covering designed to last for years to come.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
