China 90 LineHand KnottedRug

Brown / Black60 x 90 cm

The tradition of Chinese rug weaving is an ancient craft that has evolved over centuries, blending artistic expression with functional design. Historically, these rugs were highly prized for their unique aesthetic, often featuring motifs rooted in nature and symbolism that distinguish them from other regional styles.

The '90 Line' designation refers to a traditional measurement method that indicates the density of the weave. This technical standard ensures that the rug is constructed with a consistent and reliable structure, providing the necessary foundation for the detailed floral patterns to remain sharp and clear over many years of use.

Visually, this rug follows the classic Chinese tradition of incorporating organic forms and floral elements. The central medallion, surrounded by curling vines and blossoms, is a hallmark of this style, often executed with a sense of depth and grace. The choice of a deep blue field provides a striking contrast to the softer, lighter tones of the floral elements, highlighting the artistry behind the composition.

Owning a hand-knotted rug from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage. Collectors and enthusiasts value these pieces not only for their beauty but for the connection they provide to a lineage of skilled craftspeople. It is a way to bring a piece of history into your modern home, adding a layer of depth and narrative to your interior design.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and steady hands. By securing each strand of Wool individually to the cotton foundation, the artisans ensure a robust construction that is built to endure daily use while maintaining its elegant appearance.

With a total weight of 2.7 kg, this rug demonstrates the high density of material used in its creation. This substantial weight is a clear indicator of the generous amount of Wool packed into the pile, which directly contributes to its durability and the longevity of the intricate floral motifs.
