Brown / Dark green60 x 90 cm

Chinese rug weaving has a long and storied tradition that blends artistic expression with functional design. Historically, these rugs were highly prized for their balanced compositions and their ability to integrate seamlessly into diverse interior settings, from imperial palaces to modern homes.

The term '90 Line' refers to a specific traditional metric used in the industry to define the density of the weave. This measurement indicates the number of knots per linear foot, which directly influences the crispness of the design and the density of the finished pile.

Visually, Chinese rugs are celebrated for their characteristic use of open fields and carefully placed motifs. Often featuring floral elements or stylised garden scenes, these designs are balanced by decorative borders that frame the central imagery, creating a sense of harmony and order.

Collecting a hand-knotted rug from this tradition is an appreciation of both the aesthetic beauty and the enduring skill required to create it. It represents a commitment to preserving a heritage of craft that prioritises quality materials and a refined, elegant visual language.

This rug is carefully hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time to ensure every detail is perfect. The process involves precise placement of each strand, resulting in a robust and high-quality construction that a machine simply cannot replicate.

With a weight of 2.7 kg for its size, this piece is built with a dense and substantial foundation. This weight is a direct result of the generous amount of Wool used, which ensures that the rug stays firmly in place and maintains its shape over time.

The human effort behind this rug is evident in the sharpness of the floral patterns and the overall durability of the pile. By investing in such a piece, you are supporting a traditional craft that values longevity, precision, and the steady hand of the maker.
