China 90 LineHand KnottedRug

Beige / Green60 x 90 cm

Chinese rug-making is an ancient tradition that has evolved significantly over centuries, blending artistic motifs with highly developed technical skills. Historically, these rugs were often produced for imperial use, and the techniques have been passed down through generations to create the refined pieces we see today.

The 90 line classification refers to the density of the weave, which is a hallmark of Chinese craftsmanship. This technical standard ensures that the pile is not only soft to the touch but also robust enough to withstand regular use, providing a balance between delicate aesthetics and practical durability.

Signature design elements in these rugs often include elegant floral motifs and balanced compositions. The use of carved pile techniques creates a subtle relief effect, giving the patterns a three-dimensional quality that draws the eye and highlights the depth of the colour palette.

Owning a hand-knotted rug from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage and skilled labour. These pieces are valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their ability to bring a sense of history and quiet elegance to modern interiors, standing as a testament to the enduring beauty of manual craft.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a traditional craft that requires immense skill and patience. By securing each knot by hand, the artisan ensures that the pile is dense, durable, and capable of maintaining its structure and beauty for many years of daily use.

With a weight of 2.7 kg packed into a 90 x 60 cm frame, this rug demonstrates a significant investment of material and labour. This density not only contributes to the rug's longevity but also ensures that the floral patterns remain crisp and well-defined over time.

The creation process is a testament to the dedication of the maker, who spends weeks ensuring every detail is perfectly placed. This commitment to traditional techniques is what gives the rug its premium feel and ensures it remains a lasting feature in your home.
