China 90 LineHand KnottedRug

Beige / Brown60 x 90 cm

The tradition of rug-making in China is an ancient art form that has evolved over centuries, blending local aesthetic sensibilities with refined techniques. These rugs are celebrated for their distinctive approach to floral patterns and their ability to incorporate both bold colours and subtle, harmonious palettes.

The 90 line terminology refers to the density of the weaving, a technical standard that evolved to ensure consistent quality and durability. This specific density is prized for creating a balance between a lush, deep pile and the ability to articulate fine design details, making it a favourite for those who appreciate both comfort and visual depth.

Floral motifs in Chinese rug traditions are often steeped in symbolism, representing prosperity, seasons, and natural beauty. The roses featured in this design are rendered with a grace that reflects a long history of botanical art, turning the floor into a canvas that celebrates the delicate cycles of nature.

Collecting these rugs means participating in a legacy of craft that has been passed down through generations. They are highly valued not only for their aesthetic appeal but for the sheer dedication required to produce them, making each rug a piece of cultural history that adds depth and character to any modern home.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time to every individual strand. The process requires a high level of precision and patience, ensuring that every curve of the floral motif is rendered with clarity and care.

The craftsmanship is evident in the substantial weight of the piece, which at 2.7 kg for its size, reflects the generous amount of high-quality Wool used in its construction. This density is the mark of a well-made rug, providing the durability needed to withstand daily life while maintaining its elegant form.

By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are supporting a tradition of craft that values human skill over mass production. The effort invested in every square centimetre ensures a robust, reliable foundation that stands the test of time, offering a level of quality that machines simply cannot match.
