Berber Colourful - Vibrant Spirit for Your Floor

A truly one-of-a-kind hand-knotted wool rug from Afghanistan featuring a rich patchwork of tribal motifs and warm colour.

This round Berber Colourful rug brings a relaxed and welcoming character to your home. Crafted from natural wool, the surface feels soft underfoot while bringing a warm, tactile quality to any room. Its circular shape makes it an ideal anchor for smaller seating nooks or under a round side table.

The low pile creates a smooth and manageable surface that sits comfortably under furniture and near doorways. Made entirely with wool, the fibers naturally resist daily wear, making this piece practical for everyday living while maintaining its comfortable texture.

As a one-of-a-kind creation, this exact rug will never be made again. Owning it means adding a piece to your home that cannot be replicated, bringing distinct identity and warm personality to your living space.

Originating from Afghanistan, this new rug blends time-honoured hand-knitting traditions with a bold modern layout. Its diverse geometric sections and soft tones offer a balanced, eye-catching element for your floor.

Berber rugs trace their roots back to the nomadic communities of North Africa, where traditional weaving served both functional and expressive purposes. Over time, these weaving methods spread and inspired craftspeople across regional weaving centers in Asia, including Afghanistan, who adapted tribal aesthetics into local rug-making traditions.

Hand-knotted construction is one of the oldest forms of textile art. By tying strands of wool directly around warp threads, weavers produce a dense and resilient pile. This method creates a sturdy fabric capable of maintaining its structure and vibrant design through years of use.

The visual identity of Berber-style rugs relies heavily on symbolic storytelling. Repeating geometric motifs, chevrons, and patchwork fields reflect tribal signs and personal artistic expression. In colourful variations like this piece, contrasting tones bring modern energy to traditional pattern languages.

Today, traditional hand-knotted rugs are appreciated by collectors and homeowners alike for their genuine craftsmanship. Acquiring a unique handmade rug supports lasting artisan heritage and brings authentic cultural character into contemporary living spaces.

This rug is created using traditional hand-knotted techniques, where skilled artisans secure every individual knot across the pile. Hand-knotting requires patience and precise handwork, resulting in a durable piece built to last for generations.

Weighing 7.2 kg for its 139 x 130 cm circular frame, the solid weight reflects the density of the wool and the sheer amount of material knotted into the foundation. This substantial construction ensures the rug lays flat and stays firmly grounded.

The process of building a round hand-knotted rug demands exceptional control from the weaver to maintain consistent tension and symmetry throughout. Every line and patch of colour represents hours of focused human effort.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
