Rugs for teenage rooms: How to make the right choice

Decorate with a rug that not only adds style and personality to the space but also meets the practical needs of a growing teenager.

• Durability: Teens are usually quite active and often spend a lot of time in their rooms. Therefore, it’s worthwhile choosing a rug that’s made from durable materials such as wool or synthetic.
• Easy to clean: Accidents happen, especially in teenage rooms. Choose a washable rug that’s easy to clean and maintain to ensure that you invest in something durable and long-lasting.
• Soft and comfortable: Consider rugs for teenage rooms with a soft and plush texture, such as Berber or shaggy. These options provide a comfortable surface for sitting, playing, or lounging.

Teen room revamp – picking the perfect palette

When it comes to rugs for teenage rooms, it’s important to find a balance between individual preferences and a harmonious look. Involve them in the decision-making process to discuss preferences, likes, dislikes and to create a room that truly feels like their own sanctuary.

Here are some color suggestions:

• Neutrals like soft grey, beige, or light pastels provide a timeless backdrop and make it easier to change accents as their tastes evolve.
• Bold colors like vibrant blues, energetic greens, or cheerful yellows can inject personality into the room.
• Explore the idea of decorating with patterned rugs as they have the potential to introduce depth and engage the eye with intriguing visual elements.

Explore the right rug size for a cool teens’ space

Decorating a teenager’s room is an exciting venture, and selecting the right rug size is an important part of the journey.

• Assess the room’s size and layout. Larger rooms can accommodate a bigger rug, while a smaller space may benefit from a smaller area rug to define zones.
• For the bed, choose a rug that extends around the sides and the foot of the bed. This creates a comfortable, cushioned area for your teen to step onto.
• If they have a desk in their room, consider placing a rug underneath. This defines the zone and adds comfort. Perfect for extended study sessions.
• If there’s a cozy reading nook or a space for hanging out, a rug can anchor that area and provide a soft surface for lounging.
