Large round rugs, Ø 240 to Ø 300 cm | Free delivery

Large round rugs measure 230 to 349 cm across, which at Rugvista means diameters from Ø 240 and Ø 250 cm up to Ø 300 cm and a little beyond. That’s the scale for a four to eight seater round dining table, with the chairs still on the rug when pulled out, or for centring a seating group in an open-plan room where a rectangular rug would follow the walls instead. A large round rug needs a little floor showing around it to read as a circle, so measure the clear space rather than the room. If the shape matters more to you than the size, browse all round rugs.

Why a large round rug works

At this scale, a round rug defines its own space rather than extending to the walls, which is why it’s the natural match for a round or pedestal-leg dining table — it meets the table edge evenly all the way round, whichever direction you sit. The same shape suits an open-plan seating area with no fixed backdrop, marking out where the sofas and coffee table belong. It also wears more evenly over time, since there’s no orientation to flip — turning it a few degrees now and then is enough. Wool is the most common choice at this scale, as it holds its shape under furniture and stays warm underfoot. For the same scale in rectangular and square shapes, see our large rugs

Frequently asked questions

Allow 60–70 cm beyond the table edge all the way round, so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. A Ø 120 cm table needs roughly Ø 240–260 cm, a Ø 140 cm table about Ø 260–280 cm, and Ø 300 cm covers a table up to around Ø 160 cm. Choose a flatweave or low pile so chairs move easily and crumbs lift out.

Yes, as long as it centres on something rather than trying to fill the floor — a round dining table, a coffee table, or a seating group. Leave the corners of the room clear so the curve is visible; a large round rug pushed close to the walls loses the shape that made it worth choosing.

It can, with the front legs of the sofa resting on the rug. The shape suits a curved or corner sofa best, or a seating group arranged around a round coffee table. Against a long straight sofa, a rectangular rug of the same size will usually sit more neatly.

Wool for a living room, as it stays warm underfoot and springs back where furniture stands. Flatweave for a dining room, where a low profile matters more than softness. Cotton is lighter and easier to move at this diameter, and shaggy designs feel softest but need more upkeep across a large surface.

Use an anti-slip underlay: it holds a big circle in place and stops the edge lifting where people step on and off. Rugs arrive rolled, so give the edges a few days to settle, and lay the rug flat with furniture on it rather than leaving it rolled in a corner. Read more about how to flatten a rug.
