A 250 x 350 rug is a practical choice for larger rooms that need both structure and warmth. It’s ideal for framing a generous 3-seater sofa, serving as a base under a queen size bed, or sitting neatly beneath a 6–8 seat dining table. Unsure if a 250 x 350 rug is the right fit for your home? 250 x 350 rugs for every space

A 250 x 350 cm rug is large enough to anchor a whole room rather than sit under a single piece of furniture. In a living room, it can run under a sofa, armchairs and a coffee table together, leaving a clean border of floor at the edges instead of a rug that stops short and looks cramped. In a dining room, it clears a six-to-eight seat table even with the chairs pulled right out, and in a bedroom it runs the width of a double or king bed with room to step onto on either side. It’s also the size that makes sense in an open-plan or larger room, where anything smaller would look lost on the floor.

Frequently asked questions

A 250 x 350 cm rug measures 2.5 by 3.5 metres, or roughly 8 x 12 ft. It sits one step up from 250 x 300 cm and one step below a 300 x 400 cm rug, so those are worth a look if 250 x 350 doesn’t quite fit your space.

250 x 350 rugs work well in a medium-to-large living room (roughly 4 x 5 m and up), a double or king bedroom, or a dining room seating six to eight. In a smaller room it can overwhelm the space, so a smaller size will usually look better.

Yes, a 250 x 350 cm rug comfortably fits a rectangular table seating six to eight, provided the table itself is no longer than about 200–220 cm. Allow at least 60–70 cm of rug beyond the table’s edge on each side, so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out.

Wool is the dependable all-rounder: durable, warm underfoot and naturally stain-resistant. Cotton is lighter and easier to move at this size, and many cotton designs are washable. Jute adds natural texture but suits lower-traffic rooms, as it’s less forgiving of spills, while silk adds a subtle sheen to finer designs but is more delicate and best kept to rooms with lighter footfall.

For a dining room or hallway, choose a flatweave or low pile so chairs and foot traffic don’t wear it unevenly and spills are easy to wipe up. In a living room, a medium pile is the practical all-rounder. In a bedroom, a higher pile feels softest underfoot, though it needs more regular vacuuming to stay looking its best.
